Dallas Carter senior Lakyron Mays had quite the junior year. The runner with the infectious smile, polarizing personality, and the unmistakeable hairstyle is one of the most electrifying runners in the state.
Mays and his Dallas Carter teammates had themselves quite the 2017 UIL 4A state meet. They valiantly fought for a shot at a state title and fell just three points shy.
Mays, personally racked up fourteen points by himself with his third place finish in the 800m with a 1:56.16. Less than 45 minutes later, Mays was right on the track for the 400m where he finished in second with his 47.72.
In fact, Mays had a string of meets where he rattled off second place finishes in some of the biggest meets in and outside of the state. At each, the region, state, TTFCA Meet of Champions, and The Great Southwest Mays produced runner-up finishes against some of the top talent in Texas and the U.S.
Today, Mays signed a NLOI and committed to Oklahoma State University to continue his athletic and academic career.
