The Dallas Bishop Dunne boys are out for more this year.
Last year, they won the 2017 TAPPS 6A state 4x100 title. Dunne not only won TAPPS, but they also had a very successful USATF season winning the 15-16 year old boys national title and breaking the record.
This year, they want to expand their winning reach to the rest off the state.
They started off with a win at the Lake Ridge Invite this past weekend. That win included a victory over a very powerful and fast Mansfield Legacy squad.
Their victory was a 41.42, which ranks them #7 in the state of Texas. Dunne was not done (pun intended), as junior Jalen Drayden then went on to run a 10.77 in the 100m to take second. Later in the afternoon, Cameron Miller and Marquez Beason would compete in the 200m. Miller would come in second with a 21.62 and Beason in fourth with a 22.26.
This weekend, Dunne will competed in the Lancaster Meet of Champions. There, they will take on the fastest teams in the Dallas area and some of the fastest teams in the state of Texas. Included in that group will be three teams with faster times than Dunne. DeSoto, the #1 team in the state with a 41.01, Lancaster, the #2 team in the state with a 41.12, and Dawson, the #5 team in the state with a 41.39 time will all be entered in the heat.
If Dunne wants to beat the bet UIL teams, this will be their first opportunity to do and prove that they aren't just good for a TAPPS team, but one of the best quartets in all of Texas.
