Nastassja Campbell attempts 14-3 in girls pole vault competition
The girls pole vault had all kinds of state champions in the girls Pole Vault Section A and competition didn't let down.
I mean, in what other competition in the sport this season has the TAPPS three time state champ, the 2017 UIL 4A state champ, 5A state champ, and 6A state champ all been in the same competition? Oh yeah, and I can't forget about the 2018 New Balance Nationals Indoor national champion.
You know the old saying that steel sharpens steel...well, three girls would vault over 13-0 with two girls going 14-0 today. There was no ducking competition, these girls went heads up with their reputations on the line.
The competition would come down to a jump off with between the top two ranked girls in the state and the nation. Nastassja Campbell and Mackenzie Hayward out lasted the rest of the outstanding competitors and raised the bar to 14-3.
After clearing 14-0, both girls would eventually get quality jumps at 14-3 showing just how good they are getting as the year progresses.
Both girls scored PRs today as Campbell improved from her 13-7 previous best and Hayward improved from her 13-4 previous best.
Not to be left out of the party was New Braunfels Canyon's Olivia Buntin. She would earn herself a 13-3 PR, which was a seven inch improvement. Buntin had a previous personal best 12-9 outdoor mark, but her new personal best now gives Texas the three pole vaulters in the nation.
The Texas pole vault community, clubs, and school coaches be proud of it's work and they way the girls competed today. If you missed the competition today, shame on you, you missed a good one.
