This season was one that nobody saw coming in the boys 800m. 

It started off with Jake Merrell dunking basketballs and then popping his head onto an indoor track and running a 1:55 out of nowhere with basically no training and then dropping 1:52 at NBNI.

Then, Crayton Carrozza, who had been known for his 1600m through the 5K exploits comes out and busts a 1:54 the first outdoor meet in February.

From there, things just got bonkers and hasn't stopped yet. Merrell has dropped 1:50s and 1:51s over his last several races like it's a piece of cake and Carrozza has done the same.

But, that's not it. Christian Gilmore survived probably the hardest stretch of 800m races in the state from district to the state meet. He made it back to Austin and made the most of things by taking the UIL 6A crown with a 1:52.56 PR and #3 rank in the state.
