RETURNING

Aldea, Stephanie (pictured)- This Freshman from Ontario, Canada had an outstanding year leading the team all season on the grass. She placed 19th overall in the South Central Regional Cross Country meet in November. She also placed 13th at the Canadian National Championships. She followed the cross season with a solid track season posting season best times of 4:29.5 for the 1500 and 17:19.9 for the 5000m.

Garcia, Starla- Starla also excelled in her first year at UH. She ran her season best 6k time (22:40) at the South Central Regional Meet and continued her success on the track running season bests of 4:54-1500 and 17:36.7-5000m. The 5k time showed significant improvement in the spring so she should have a wonderful 2009 cross country season.

Munoz, Megan- Megan did well her first year running for the lady cougars. She was very competitive all year and stepped into a top 5 role as a freshman which is a hard thing to do at this level.. Her track times for the spring were 4:56-1500 and 18:31-5000m.

Witte, Brandi- Stepped in as a freshman from a very small school and did very well. She has potential to improve rapidly for the upcoming season.

Hannemann, Erica- Was the only non-freshman in the top 5 in 2008. She is a SR this year so I see her being an important part of this team. Her track times of 4:38-1500 and 18:21-5000m shows she has improved immensely from her form last year.

NEW

FORECAST

Last year this team placed 5th at Conference USA and 10th at South Central Regionals. This team is loaded with young talent having 4 of their top 5 being Freshman in 2008. All indications during the track season points to continued improvement. This team is a year older and should do very well this year.Look for them to improve their place in Conference USA and the tough South Central Regional Meet.  They bring in a very talented Kathryn Ducommun who ran very well in High School (5:07) but flew under the radar a bit. We have them ranked as a top 10 program in Texas.
