Four Observations from UIL District Week

Smithson Valley Time
We have seen it before and it is happening right before our very eyes once again. Smithson Valley knows how to read a calendar. They know exactly when championship season is and that is when they are best prepared. It's not only Coach Lanehart and her team's ability to know when, but they know how to race.

SV wasn't making much noise during the early part of the season, but they have definitely come alive in the second part of the 2018 season.

This is precisely what we saw last year. The 2017 SV boys raised the bar of their competition and tore through the district meet and hitting regionals, state, and NXR South ahead full of steam. They are right back at it and the girls team is right with them.

Both Ranger squads ran well at the Chile Pepper and McNeil meets. This week, they set their district meet on fire winning all varsity and JV races.

With perhaps one of the tougher districts in Region 4-6A, they won the girls race by only accumulating 24 points by going 19:12 team average and just a 40 second split. They also added the boys win with a 24 point win for a 15:52 team average and a 34 second split.

October is Smithson Valley time and that time is here.
