W2W4: What To Watch For At Region 3 In Each Classification

Region 3-4A

Does Lufkin Hudson have their next big star on their hands? Well, one thing is for sure, Kayleigh Wagnon can run and she will enter the regional meet as the top 4A seed with her 12:19. She will be seeded almost 20 second ahead of Fairfield senior Madison Smith.

Wagnon and Smith will not only battle one another for the individual regional title, but their Hudson and Farifield teams will also battle one another for the team title.

With that said, keep in mind the UIL realignment brings in an Alvarado team that is new to Region 3. The DFW area squad is coming over way from Region 1 the last couple of years. They'll bring their back to back individual champion Emily Garcia and her teammates who all teamed up to take third place overall at last year's state meet.

The boys individual title should be a for gone conclusion. That conclusion should be Eli Peveto. The Little Cypress-Mauriceville senior should win another regional title on his way to his big UIL finale. Peveto looks to finish his career with a state meet medal. He has the fastest regional title by far with his 15:36.04 PR.

The team race won't be as clear though. The battle will be a close one as boys from Center will travel down and look to have the same success the girls have had over the last couple of years. They'll have to hold off Huffman-Hargrave and Lufkin Hudson and the difference between winning and second or third place could only be a few points.
