Overlooked 2018 Runners Who Will Make Presence Felt Monday

Carlos Vallejo #1716 is having a great season and it should continue past regionals

Carlos Vallejo - Fort Worth North Side

I can't blame you for not really knowing who this young man was heading into this season. While he was a solid runner, he was one of many of them in the state.

However, whatever he did in the off season, or whatever got into this kid definitely should have made you take notice by now. He ended his 2017-2018 season with PRs of 16:32 - 5K, 9:56 - 3200m, and a 4:24 1600m (ran last race of year at NT 1600).

This season, he started his cross season with a big time 9:35.50 at the Hebron Friday Night Hawk Invitational and then followed that up with a 15:28 PR at Marcus I Invitational. Probably at his least impressive race of the year, a 15:45 at McNeil Invitational for 42nd place, which says a lot to his improvement. After coasting a 16:54 for the win at district, look for him to be primed and ready for the sizzling Region 1-5A race on Monday.
