Intuition In The Kitchen With Brynn Brown

Denton Guyer sophomore Brynn Brown is one of the Texas' best distance runners. During the cross season, she ran the sophomore class' top 5K time nationally (16:41.13).

In the current track season, Brown has won several big races including the elite 5K at the Texas Distance Festival, the 3200m at Texas Relays, and the Region 1-6A Meet 3200m.

At the upcoming state meet this weekend, Brown will compete in both the 1600m and the 3200m. She will arrive in Austin with season bests of 4:53 (1600m), 10:19.08 (3200m), and 16:26.47 (5K) this track season.

Yet, Brown has another passion other than running. She likes to cook and she can do it well. In fact, Brown has made it more than just a hobby. She created an instagram account where she posts meals daily incluging pre-race meals.

For MileSplit, she made a baked salmon dish for on a bed of pasta with sauteed vegetables tossed with a vegan cashew pesto sauce.

Brown credits a change in eating habits to her improved performances. "I just started diving more into the healthy eating community." By running you do burn a lot of calories, but would you want to put poor gasoline in a Ferrari? I'm not trying to fall into a diet fad or anything, I just started to incorporate vegetables, leaner meet, cleaner and healthy foods and better sources of energy to make it a lifestyle.
