Girls 2019 Preseason UIL Team Rankings

2019 1A Girls Preseason Rankings

Editor's Comments

Last year's finish for the team title couldn't have been written any better. The top three teams return each with opportunities to win a state title. Last year's drama will be tough to replicate, but this year could see another close team battle.

Tied for first last year, but lost on sixth runner. The 2017 state champ Jorja Bessonett only finished 7th overall and over 30 seconds slower last year. She was coming back from injury, but now after setting a UIL 1A 3200m state record on the track, she looks like she is back at full strength and so should be Miller Grove!
2
Last year, Nazareth was two points behind the first two teams that tied for first. They took the third place trophy but they return their top 6 girls and they will be hunting for first!
3
It was a wild finish to last year's championship. Thanks to their 6th runner, Happy went home with a smile and not a frown. They graduated two seniors but will reload to try to defend their title. Kenli Johnson is their leader.
4
Benjamin finished fourth at state and they start off that way in the preseason rankings. If they minimize their split they could catch up to the big three.
