3A Girls
So, the Regional meet is Tulia's to lose. However, you can' t forget about the girls from Wall. They won regionals last year and and finished second as a team at the state meet. They return six of seven girls and could really roll to an easy win. However, Bushland was the region runner-up and they also return a good number of girls. The team battle could come down to a rematch of last year between the two.
Here are the girls top four team finishes:
1. Tulia
2.Wall
3. Bushland
4. Abernathy
The girls individual race should come down to the Wall duo of Maci Beeles and Shaylee Shiller who went 2 - 3 last year. Shiller finished seventh at the state meet and now has the big stage running needed to win and lead her team.
3A Boys
The boys regional meet last year was a nail biter between the first there teams. Only five points separated the top three teams as we saw Tornillo lose a region meet for the first time in years.
Boyd won with 89 points followed by Tornillo with 91 points and then Crane was third with 94 points. Crane had the good day two weeks later at the state meet as they were the team runners-up.
Here are the boys top four team finishes:
1. Tornillo
2. Crane
3. Boyd
4. Dimmitt
This year, we could see Tornillo jump back up to take the win as they will be led by senior Ofir Ortega who has the championship pedigree and experience like no other in the race. Ortega should win the regional individual title.
