Houston Metro Girls To Watch For This Cross Country Season

Gabrielle Hoots-Klein Oak

The Klein Oak distance star is heading into her junior season following a breakout sophomore campaign. Hoots racked up a ton of top five finishes last year including four wins that seemed to help build confidence in the young runner.

Perhaps the big confidence builder was when she placed third at the UIL Region 2 XC Championships with a 18:06.02 PR to qualify for the state meet.

Hoot's big time running and state meet experience carried over into the COVID-19 shortened 2020 outdoor track season. She was able to lace her minimal season with PRs all around the board. She ran indoor PRs by going 2:29.37 in the 800m and 11:32.86 in the 2 mile. Outdoors, she followed that up with a 5:16.54 in the 1600m and 11:18.97 in the 3200m.

Look for Hoots to be riding high heading into the 2020 cross country season and with a little more magic from Coach Andrepont and Coach Harper, she just might become one of the best in the Houston area and make some major noise at state.
