El Paso Girls To Watch For This Cross Country Season

Kylene Elias - Tornillo

Yes, Tornillo is known for their tough running boy's teams, but forgive Elias for coming in and shaking things up a little bit. The youngster came in and rattled things up in her freshman year by winning a district and regional title.

Not only did she qualify for the state meet, but she nearly won the UIL 3A individual championship by placing third with a 11:37.79 PR

Elias also ran well at the 5K distance finishing either first or second in every race last year except for at the MileSplit TX XC Invitational where she placed 25th overall with some of the best IL 5A and 6A girls in the state. Although she only placed 25th, she did come away with a 19:05 PR.

Keep an eye on Elias as she returns for her sophomore season and will challenge for a state title.
