6A Girls 100m
The fastest time coming into today's meet was from Jasmine Montgomery, a senior from San Antonio Reagan with a time of 11:21. Montgomery has led the nation pretty much all season long with a mark of 11.16. That is just the fastest mark preceding the state meet; Montgomery has consistently laid down some huge marks this year. The only thing holding her back from history has been the infamous Texas wind. She and other sprinters were hoping to get some cooperation from mother nature this weekend, but all they could do is control the controllable..
In the 100m, Montgomery led from the start; from the drive phase you could see her power and execution and you knew you were watching something special happening. Onto finish, Montgomery's top end speed was without question the best in the field and she came across the finish line with a time of 11:09 which would be enough to claim the state record, but with a 4.6 wind, it won't count in the record books.
Saniya Friendly a junior from Schertz Clemens won the silver medal with a time of 11.44 and following close behind was Camryn Dickson a junior from Friendswood Clear Brook. She finished third with a time of 11:47.

6A Girls 200m
The top times coming into today's race were a 23.27 from Montgomery and a 23.29 from Camryn Dickson a junior from Friendswood Clear Brook.
On the curve, Montgomery immediately made up the stagger on her outside lanes coming out of lane 4 and kept turning up the speed. When she hit the straight, she nearly had a 3 meter lead as she powered and continued to move away. Montgomery ran away with the title with a time of 22.94, while Dickson captured the silver with a time of 23.28. Ani Vea Gilbert a senior from Spring Westfield won the bronze with a time of 23.60.
After crossing the line, Montgomery looked up at the score board and saw two things - one she liked and one she didn't, the time and the wind reading. The time reflected what she was confident the level her skills are at, but the 2.2 positive wind was barely over the allowable limit. She fall to her back with arms wide open as ask what else could she do.
