El Paso has continued to establish itself as a strong distance running region in the state. The 2021 seem to continue the recent history.
The area already got things started last week at the Montwood Midnight Madness and earlier with another preseason area staple with the Parra Law Road Race.
Lauren Walls-Portillo (Eastwood) is one of the top runners in the city and in the state. Her 18:04.35 returning mark from last year places her among the state's leaders.
Although the El Paso Franklin girls lost their top two runners and all-state performers, but they still return a host of quality girls who have been important parts of their state meet qualifying teams.
Alyssa Laspada, Michele Paillard, Jenna Saunders, Sofia Camacho, and Jordan Torres will look to help Franklin punch their ticket back to the state meet.
