Houston is the fourth largest city in the country and home to some of the largest schools and school districts in the state. Those factors helps it have some of the best individual athletes in each sport.
Last season, after the top two spots, there was a youth movement with the top individual girls runners in the area. This season, they are a year older and there is now a mix of seniors and younger runners who will run for the top spot in the city.
The Woodlands runners Natasja Beijen and Katarina Hodgson are the top two returners from the UIL state meet; Beijen finished 10th overall and Hodgson finished 14th last year as a freshman.
