3A Girls

After a runner-up finish last season, Avery Owen (Dallas Lakehill) captured her first cross country state championship on Monday. She ran 12:41 to capture the win ahead of Caroline Karr (San Jacinto Christian).

Karr went 12:52 to finish as the runner-up ahead of third place finisher Audrey Roberts (Conroe Covenant Christian) who finished in 12:58.

Spring Providence Classical had one runner (Hannah Mann - 9th place) in the top 10, but when the rest of the girls came across the finish line they came across in droves.

Their second through five runners all finished within 17 seconds to seal the win.

Denton Calvary Christian had two girls in the top 10 and an additional in 11th place overall to lead them to the second place trophy. Vanguard College Preparatory was third with 84 points.

3A Boys

Zachary Kleppel (Spring Providence Classical) was the runner-up in 2020, but was able to take down last year's champ Cullen McCaleb (Dallas Lakehill Prep).

Kleppel ran 16:37 for the win outlasting McCaleb's 17:01. Reagan Layh (Midland Classical Academy) finished third by going 17:12

Kleppel grabbed his second championship of the day with the team title. 

The Spring Providence guys gave him support at the front, as expected when Graham Young, Kolbe Zuniga, and Cole Pickle all finished in the top 10.

The Griffin School was second overall with 97 point, topping Plano Coram Deo Academy's 115 point total as they finished third overall.
