5A Girls
Abby Metzger (Tyler Grace) has been on fire going back to last fall. She had a great track season and only has one loss on the 2021 cross country season.
That loss did not come yesterday at the TAPPS 5A state meet. She improved on last year's third place finish by winning the state title.

Reagan High (Fort Worth Southwest Christian) finished second in 12:28 with Metzger's teammate Ashlynn Hecht rounding out the top three finishers in 12:38.
All juniors and seniors made up the top five except for freshman Charis Andrews (Grapevine Faith Christian) who finished fourth in 12:41.

Southwest Christian won the team race by scoring 44 points and using a strong 58 second 1-5 split.
Austin St. Michaels had two runners in the top 10 with Sarah Terracina and Katherine Kalsu finishing fifth and sixth overall using a strong 51 second split of their own.
Tyler Grace finished third overall as a team.
5A Boys
The Parra brothers of San Antonio TMI were expected to finish 1-2 in the TAPPS 5A boys race and they did.
Marcelo Parra (16:22) outkicked twin brother Franco Parra (16:24) to make it reality.
Nicolas Siller (Boerne Geneva) wrapped up the top three individual finishers and the only other sub 17 minute runner with his 16:46.
