Cassidy Bilsing Captures 3200 Gold in 2A 3200

The pack spread out quickly in the first lap. Through the first split Brianna Leek, a Senior from Hamlin came through first with Matti Burns a Junior from Martins Mill and Cassity Turner a Sophomore from Malakoff Cross Roads running close behind.

Leek continued to push the pace and lead through two laps. Leek extended her lead in the third lap so it was her running solo with the rest of the pack vying for the rest of the medal stand. Cassidy Bilsing, a Senior from Normangee moved into second place with Maggie Bartlow, a Freshman from San Antonio Stacey moved into third place. Bartlow and Bilsing overtook Leek with three laps left. 

Bartlow and Bilsing ran neck and neck with two laps remaining and Cameron Belcher, a Sophomore from Windthorst took possession of third place. Bilsing and Bartlow put on the jets and started to pull away with Bilsing coming through first.

In the bell lap, Bilsing really took over the race and extended her lead. Bartlow was still running comfortably in 2nd. The battle was for third place with Turner and Belcher vying for the bronze medal. 

Bilsing had an impressive kick down the back stretch to seal her gold medal with a time of 11:27.20. Bartlow finished in 2nd place with a time of 11:42.80 and Belcher grabbed the bronze with a time of 11:48.58.
