It was a clean start for the 800m run. Kyla Kane the reigning runner-up and took an early lead with a tight pack behind her. However, after letting last year slip though her grasp, she was running to keep a hold of this year's race.
At the bell lap, Kane a Senior from Wellington still led the way with a split of 1:07. Coming through the 600m, there were 6 girls with a shot at the title. Kane held her own down the home stretch but with 50 meters to go Makaylee Ray a Junior from Poolville gave her a run for her money.
West Texas A&M basketball commit, Kane got her wish and won the Gold with a time of 2:20.65, Ray finished with a close second with a time of 2:21.06, and Emily Pharris a Sophomore from Shelbyville captured the bronze with a time of 2:22.49.
