Hunter Keepler Uses Perfectly Timed Kick To Win 5A Boys 800m

The 5A Boys 800-meter run got off to a hot start, hitting the 200 meter mark in just under 27 seconds. They slowed things down just a bit crossing the halfway point at 58.85. 

Chasetin Winston took control of the race early on. The senior, out of Royse City, led for the majority of the race and was in a good position to close things out with about 100 meters to go. Junior Kepler Huntress out of Austin LASA kicked things into another gear to take the win with a time of 1:53.88.

Winston gave his best effort and nearly managed to hang out to the lead but still was able to walk away with a silver medal. He crossed the line with a time of 1:54.15. Junior Trenton Burningham from Kingwood Park joined the podium with a time of 1:55.10. All finishers crossed with a time below 1:59.
