Ryan Crouser Wins Adds World Championship To Olympic Gold

It's kind of hard to conceptualize and accept that Ryan Crouser had not won a World Championship title before this weekend.

The University of Texas graduate and TTFCA Hall of Fame inductee has won Olympic Gold and set several records including the World Record in the shot put event. It wasn't until yesterday that he was able to win a World Championship.

He was part of the first American sweep in the event at a major championship event. Crouser alon with silver medalist Joseph Kovacs, and bronze medalist Josh Awontunde.

Crouser, was truly the king of the shot put ring by stepping up in one of the best throws competitions of recent history. He needed to toss a 22.94m (73'3") for a World Championship Record to defeat back-to-back World Champion Joseph Kovacs, who also threw over 22 meters. Awotunde not only got in on the medal winning, but he also threw a life time best of 22.29 meters (73'2") only to be beat by arguably the best two shot putters of all-time.

This competition was not only great because it was on American soil, but it was also in Crouser's home state, merely 100 miles from where he grew up in Gresham, Oregon.
