On the boy's side, Southlake Carroll High School took its fourth consecutive team title outlasting second place by 19 team points. Carroll wasn't just racing with a huge target on their back but they were also entering the race with the fastest team average in the country. This isn't the end of the Dragon's quest, they were led by Coach Leonard's son, freshman Caden Leonard who finished 6th overall running 15:56.20.
Second place was taken by Austin Vandergrift led by Kevin Sanchez, he entered today's race as last year's individual state champion. Sanchez and his pack of vipers were coming in with all the confidence in the world as they did finish on top of the UIL Region 4 meet last week.
Third place was overtaken by another DFW powerhouse team Coppell High School led by Andrew Mullen. The Coppell boys believed they had to prove to the state of Texas and the rest of the nation that they are a team to never be underestimated. Mullen and his pack of 5 consisted of Vedant Bhattacharyya, Henry Henze, Samarth Dubey, and Samuel Martinson. As a pack of five, they averaged out to 16:26.7 to place 3rd as a team.
