The Houston Episcopal girls were dead set on taking home another Southwest Preparatory Conference Championship crown.

They demonstrated their determination on the course when Madison Morgan  and Lucy Holden finished 1-2 overall in the race.

Their running got the scoring started and pretty much put an exclamation mark on the championship. The were joined in the top-10 finishers by Georgia Bass in ninth place. Teammates Asher Luengas (15th) and Shepherd Gregg (17th) soon followed to total 42 points and secure the back-to-back win for the team.

Houston St. John's finished second as a team. They were lead by senior Alexa Christensen who finished in fourth place with a time of 19:18.

The rest of the team helped to produce 72 points using a 20:20 team average to tally their points.

Hockaday was one of the favorites entering the meet. They finished second overall just four points behind St. John's. Sophomore Jordan Lacsamana led the way with teammate Margaret Thompson fifth in 19:24.

Individually, one of the favorites was the 2021 champion, Thompson. She has two sub 18-minute runs on the season and over a minute better than the winning time. She would finish sixth overall.

Again, it was the Knights owning the day. Morgan and Holden took control of the race as they took turns leading this race.

Bass was the top performing freshman in seventh place with Houston Awty frosh Farrah Fahl finishing in 13th place as the the second best finish for a freshman in the race.

The 3A girls saw Houston Christian run to the win over Houston Duchesne Academy by a narro 54 < 58 margin.

McKayla Childs was the top finisher for Houston Christian taking third place in 20:19.

Freshman Keeley Klenke won the overall race with a time of 19:17.  The Duchesne Academy star leg a long list of underclassmen including three freshmen in the top-10.
