India Alix poses in front of the scoreboard that reflects her all-time performance jump

India Alix is off to a great start in the 2023 indoor track and field season. The University of Florida commit demonstrated why she was a hot commodity on the recruiting scene this fall. Over the weekend, at the North Texas Showcase, she jumped 20-11.75 to win the event and cracked the all-time performance list for Texas and the national list.
The Houston (Klein HS) jumps star is now tied with Tyra Gittens of Nashville (Tennessee) Ensworth HS for the No. 5 indoor all-time performance on the US list. In 2016, Samiyah Samuels (Cypress Springs, TX) set the Texas and national mark at 21-3.25.
Alix's jump ties Jasmine Moore for No. 6 a-t in Texas (indoor and outdoor) behind Samuels, Ychlindria Spears, Kynnedy Flannel, Melody Smith, and Carlette Guidry. Only Samuels' national leading indoor mark is better than Alix.
Alix admittedly put in the work in the off-season, but she wasn't aware of how good of a jump it was, saying, "I knew by everyone's reactions it had to be something good,"
The long jump wasn't the only event where she raised eyebrows. Her 42-6 triple jump performance was over 6 inches better than her previous 41-11.25 PR that earned her the third place finish at the 2022 UIL 6A state meet.
