Prosper senior Lauren Lewis is ramping things up for climactic end to her high school career. The University of Texas signee isn't waiting for the end of the year to entertain track and field fans. She ran a Texas high school state record in the 400m with her 51.83 at today's UIL 6A Districts 5&6 Area Championships. That surpases the previous state record of 51.96 by Brandi Cross (Fort Bend Marshall) in 2006.

That's the fastest time in the country so far and it's Lewis' third race under 52.52 this year. The mark bodes well for her quest to repeat as the UIL 6A state champion in the event.
