Holliday freshman Noah Strohman held off a hard charging
David Soto of Winnsboro to win the 3A Boys 3200m in a conference record
9:11.73. Soto started to make a push with 500m remaining and pulled nearly even
with Strohman with 100m remaining, but Strohman had one final push to take the
victory.
Strohman and Soto both broke the previous meet record of 9:15.46.
The race began in pedestrian fashion with the group going through the 800 at 2:30, but the top three of Strohman, Soto and Riley Nedrow of Boyd forced the pace faster and faster each lap. Strohman took the lead for good at 1600m. He ran his second mile in 4:30.07.
