The latest post season track and field event was last night in St. Louis, Mo with the HOKA Festival of Miles. Some of Texas' top middle distance runners have competed over the past three weeks in New York, Huntsville, Al, and now in St. Louis. In the girls and boys events last night we saw some elite running including by the Lone Star runners.
In the girls 800m, TAPPS 3A state champion and TX No. 9 half-miler Faith Murphy (Marble Falls Faith Academy) ran 2:13.56 to finish eighth. Murphy's time was just a few seconds off her 2:11.16 personal record.
In the boys championship 800m event, Southwest Preparatory Conference Champion Evan Ringwald (Houston Episcopal) has been performing at an all-time best in his last several races. He ran 1:54.73 to win the SPC title and then added a 4:14.19 personal best at the TTFCA Meet of Champions in the 1600m. Ringwald ran a new personal best 1:53.24 for a TX No.18 ranking.
In the Women's High School Elite Developmental 1 Mile, sophomore Alexandra Fox (Flower Mound) and senior Ava Bushaw (Southlake Carroll) both competed. Fox entered with a TX No. 6 ranking in the 1600m with her 4:48.41 personal best and finished third with a 4:50.13. The ninth ranked Texan, Bushaw entered with a 4:51.23 personal best in the 1600m. The Army commit ran 4:53.33 for a sixth place finish.
Ayden Granados (McAllen Memorial) entered last night's meet as the TX No. 5 1600m performer with a 4:09.42 from April's Texas Relays. The two-time UIL 5A runner-up and Oklahoma State commit finished second to Ethan Hogan (Mo) in 4:09.11. Holliday freshman Noah Strohman was just 0.12 off of Josiah Tostenson's 4:09.11 freshman class national record with his 4:09.23 at the RunningLane Track Championships. He ended up with a 4:13.70 performance for an eighth place finish.
In the Women's High School Championship 1 Mile, Samantha Humphries (Flower Mound), Nicole Humphries (Flower Mound), and Emma Wade (Cedar Park Vista Ridge) all competed in the UIL 6A state meet 1600m.
Samantha entered the meet as the TX No. 1 600m performer with a 4:45.26 and the state meet runner-up finisher. She narrowly finished second behind Charlotte Bell (Mo) with a time of 4:41.93. Nicole was the third place finisher at the state meet and entered with a TX No. 1 4:48.65. She ran 4:46.86 in the mile for ninth place. Wade, the TX No. 6 ranked 1600m performer this season and the eighth place finisher at the state meet ran 4:59.67 to finish 14th in the mile.
