Today, Flower Mound Marcus graduate Emma Sralla was named the Texas Gatorade Player of the Year.
Sralla had a fantastic senior season going undefeated in the discus throw. She threw over 173 feet every meet this year including four meets over 180 feet including a 193-8 toss to win the Jesuit-Sheaner Relays and a 195-10 at the Oklahoma Throws Series. Those throws make her the US No. 2 thrower of all-time. She only sits behind fellow Texas high school prep Shelby Vaughan who holds the Texas and National Records.
This season followed the momentum she created last summer when she won the U20 World Championship gold medal while competing for Sweden.
Sralla will continue her student-athletic pursuits when she enrolls at Stanford University next fall.
