Today, Houston Episcopal junior Karson Gordon was named the Texas boys Gatorade Player Of The Year for track and field. The quarterback recruit doubles as an elite triple jumper.
He finished the 2023 track and field season as the top triple jumper in the country with his 51-5.75 winning jump at the Texas Relays; that is better than the second ranked jumper by nearly half of a foot.
Gordon won the Victor Lopez Classic - 49-10.5 (+0.4), the Southwest Preparatory Conference Championships (SPC) - 48-9.5, the TTFCA Meet of Champions - 50-10 (+2.8), and ended the year with a win at Nike Outdoor Nationals - 51-4.25 (-0.6) to win the national title. He also placed third in the 200m and the long jump at the SPC Championships.
Gordon will now get in consideration for the national award coming up soon.
