This Sunday was not only Super Bowl Sunday, but it was also the 116th Millrose Games, in New York City. The Millrose Games is one of the most famous track and field meets in the United States and is on the World Athletics Indoor Tour.

Its an international professional event, but it also has selective events for high school athletes to compete in.

Whenever you have the best track and field teams and athletes in the country, you know that Texas will be well represented and this weekend was no different.

Triple Jump

Girls

There were four Texas girls triple jumpers in the triple jump event. The jump event has been a hot event in Texas over the past ten years and it continues to see a deep field of talented contestants.

Senior Sydnee Burr (Cypress Park) is enjoying a productive indoor season and that now includes a win a the Millrose Games. Burr didn't seem to find a great rhythm in the competition, but was still able to get three jumps over 39-0 feet. That includes a 40-8.25 leap on her second attempt, which was the decisive winning mark.

Caitlyn Johnson, a junior from Frisco, Texas popped a good one on her very first attempt when she went 39-10. That mark kept her in second place until the very end when Corintia Grifith from New York jumped 40-1.25 to push Johnson back to third place.

Samantha Ennin (Plano John Paul II) and Jordynn West (Waxahachie Life) both also competed. Ennin had a 38-5 best in the competition and West added two leaps of 37-0.25.

Boys

Xavier Drumgoole (Round Rock) was the only Texan in the competition and he captured the win with a 49-8.50 jump. Jaden Lippett (FL) was close behind with his 49-7.75 jump for second.

Drumgoole lofted a 49-4.50 leap for his second best jump of the competition.

60M

Jelani Watkins (Humble Atascocita) is another athlete enjoying a fruitful indoor track and field season. He added a Millrose win as well when he ran 6.68 to win the boys 60m.

He continues to prove he is not only a 200m specialist, and it looks like he may be a contender in the 100m this season when he begins the UIL season. A 6.68 run on Sunday is a new personal best and the fourth fastest all-time by a Texan.

The closest performance to Watkins was a 6.76.

Mile

Samantha Humphries (Flower Mound) and Elizabeth Leachman (Boerne Champion) were the two Texas girls competing in the mile.

After racing in the 3,200m on Thursday, at the Boerne Champion Charger Relays to the tune of 9:46, Leachman led the mile for a majority of the race with Humphries positioned closely.

Humphries had one of the fastest last laps to come away with the win 4:41.43. Leachman finished eighth in 4:48.55.

600m

Jonathan Simms (Allen) took on some of the best talent not only nationally, but of all-time.

Simms placed third with a time of 1:18.22 to become the No. 7 600m performer all-time. Quincy Wilson (MD) ran 1:17.36 for the No. 2 all-time performance and Jaden Marchan (NJ) was third to become the No. 5 all-time performer at 1:17.96.

Pole Vault

Dyson Wicker (Rockwall Heath) is without a doubt having a masterful indoor season with several jumps over 17 feet. He was the top ranked vaulter this season with a 17-6 clearance.

After clearing 16-10.75, on his second attempt, he and eventual winner Bryce Barkdull (KS) both passed bars and elected to raise the height to 17-6.50. Bardull cleared on his second attempt with Wicker unable to relented him to a runner-up finish.
