2024 Texas Distance Festival Girls Elite 800m
In last year's girls 800m, we saw four girls run sub 2:15 in the elite race. All four of the girls return for the 2024 track and field season, with two of the other three competing again this weekend and a sibling of the other will be back to compete in this year's race.
Samantha Humphries (Flower Mound) won the TDF Elite Girls 800m last year with a 2:08.96 performance. Her sister Nicole Humphries will take her turn in the 800m this year.
Faith Murphy (Austin Anderson) will get another shot at a TDF 800m win after last year's valiant 2:11.16 runner-up finish. Murphy, formerly of TAPPS' Marble Falls Faith Academy, now competes in the UIL.
In third place last year and returning to race this season is Caila Lyons (San Antonio Brennan). Lyons ran 2:12.30 last season and has qualified for the UIL 6A state meet in both of her first two seasons in high school.
Last year's fourth place finisher Taryn Bailey (DeSoto) finished third at the 2023 UIL 6A state meet.
