There are three boys in the state who are throwing over 60 feet in the shot put and over 184 feet in the discus.
Evan Martinez (Arlington Lamar) is having himself quite the UIL season so far this year with season bests of 66-1.25 and 198-4. Brandon Schirck (Friendswood) is hot on his trail with tosses of 66-3 in the shot put and 189-11 in the discus.
Add Kyen Purser (Midlothian) and his 60-9 and 184-7 tosses and you have three boys with 245-4 inch combined distances and better.
Many more boys throughout the rest of the state are also throwing well. With Texas Relays approaching followed by the qualifying season, look for things to really take off.
