Who's That Thrower? Joe Brown Qualifies For The Olympics

He was never a UIL State Champion.

In fact, he never even competed in the UIL State T&F State Championships.

He's third on the Mansfield all-time list for discus throws, according to TXMileSplit at 158-10.

Joseph Brown of Mansfield High School moved into third place with a 65.79 (215-10) throw in his final attempt to secure a trip to Paris, edging Reggie Jagers by 2 inches.

After a good high school career, Brown signed with Texas A&M-Commerce where he earned the 2019 NCAA DII National Champion in discus. In 44 collegiate meets, he garnered 2-time All-American status in discus, was a 7-time All-Region selection, 6-time All-Conference selection, and earned Scholar Athlete accolades twice.

Seriously considering quitting the sport if he failed to make the Olympic team, Joe threw first in the final round, which means he had to witness with anxiety the remaining throws. Would anyone overtake him? Panic set in; teammate Marcus Gustaveson helped keep him stable through the announcement of the top 3 who punched their ticket to Paris.

We all now know the answer to who Who's That Thrower? It's Joe Brown: Olympian.
