2025 UIL 3A Boys 4x100 Relay
The 2025 UIL Boys 3A 4x100-meter relay was a thrilling and tightly contested race that came down to the wire, with Hallettsville emerging as the state champions in a blistering 41.36 seconds. Coming into the race, all eyes were on Hitchcock in lane 9, who entered with the fastest seed time of 41.61 from regionals, while Franklin in lane 5 and Little River Academy in lane 2 were expected to mount strong challenges.
From the gun, Hitchcock exploded out of the blocks, quickly making up ground and showing why they were the top seed. Meanwhile, Little River Academy in lane 2 was also making up the stagger early, putting pressure on the middle lanes. The race tightened up in the third exchange, where Hitchcock began to lose some of their momentum just as Hallettsville surged. Hallettsville's second exchange was particularly sharp, giving them the edge they needed to surge to the front and fend off the challengers.
With about 40 to 50 meters remaining, Franklin made a fierce push out of lane 5, charging hard and threatening to overtake the leaders. But Hallettsville, anchored by Colt Edmonds, refused to yield, holding their form and crossing the line first in a season-best time. Franklin finished just a step behind in 41.42, earning a strong second-place finish, while Hitchcock held on for third in 41.61 after their early burst. Wall, Little River Academy, Daingerfield, Comanche, Marion, and Gunter rounded out the competitive field, with all nine teams posting times under 43 seconds in one of the deepest 3A sprint finals in recent memory.
