Camden Capehart Runs 10.14 To Defend UIL 3A 100m Title

2025 UIL 3A Boys 100m

The 2025 UIL Boys 3A 100-meter final delivered fireworks, and Winnsboro junior Camden Capehart stole the show with a commanding performance. Running from lane 4, Capehart exploded out of the blocks and never looked back, storming to a blistering 10.14 seconds aided by a 3.7 m/s tailwind. It was not only a personal best but also the second-fastest time in UIL 3A history, leaving no doubt that Capehart is a rising star destined for the next level. His flawless sprinting from start to finish made it clear that the field was racing for second place.

Cameron Yoe senior Tim Grice took runner-up honors in 10.36, while Hallettsville's Shane Migura crossed in 10.44 for third, narrowly holding off West's Coy Klish (10.45) and Hitchcock's Jared Dotson (10.52) in a tightly packed group behind Capehart. Wall's Briggs Jones, coming off a silver medal in the long jump earlier in the day, ran 10.53 to finish sixth despite being a pre-race favorite with the fastest seed time. Alex Terrell of Comanche (10.602) and Markeylin Batton of Atlanta (10.606) battled down to the thousandths for seventh and eighth, with Goliad's Lamont Franklin rounding out the final in ninth at 10.70.

Capehart's performance not only confirmed his talent but also positioned him as a sprinter to watch in Texas and beyond. With another year of high school left, the ceiling looks incredibly high for the Winnsboro junior.
