2025 UIL 5A Boys 4x400 Relay
The 2025 UIL Boys 5A 4x400-meter relay was a commanding showcase of dominance from Alvin Iowa Colony, as they capped off a sensational relay sweep by adding the 4x400 state title to their 4x100 and 4x200 crowns. Coming in with a season-best of 3:12, Iowa Colony entered as the favorite, and despite Aledo briefly handing off first after the opening leg, Iowa Colony quickly seized control. Antoine Martin Jr. and Jeremy Garner delivered strong middle legs, reclaiming the lead and stretching the gap with each exchange.
Behind Iowa Colony, the race for the remaining podium spots heated up, with Marshall and McAllen locked in a fierce chase. But up front, Ian Hill took the baton with a commanding lead and left no doubt, blazing a 47.29 anchor leg that sealed the victory in 3:11.62. Marshall, despite a terrific 46.76 anchor from De'Trevyon Goudeau, had to settle for second in 3:13.10, while McAllen crossed in third at 3:13.98, fending off a late surge from Aledo.
The rest of the field saw close battles, but no one could match the powerhouse performance of Iowa Colony, which successfully defended its 4x400 title after winning last year in 4A. Their wire-to-wire dominance underscored why they were the class of the relays in Texas this season.
