Why I Run Cross Country- Patti Hank

New Page 4

Hey everybody. My name is Patti Hank and I run Cross Country for Texas Lutheran University. I am writing to tell you why I run Cross Country, so here it goes.

I run Cross Country because I always have, I guess, but don't worry there are more reasons! I was given the ability to run, therefore, I use it. This is a way of life for me and it keeps me not only in great physical condition, but it also clears my head and relieves stress and anxiety.

Oh wait….there's more! I also run Cross Country because of the unique bond that teammates have on a team. Our team is special—very special. Many of us have been through a lot together. We've seen tragedy and victory all at the same time, but we made it through together as a family. This bond is one of the main reasons I run. I don't have millions of friends all over the place like some people do, but I do have at least twenty some odd best friends in the world.

A team is where the heart is, and that concept is one of the things that motivates me to work hard at practice everyday and sacrifice my weekends to meets. Running Cross Country, as mentioned before, is a lifestyle for me—and it's one that I love and put high on my list of priorities.
