The 2026 TAPPS State Track & Field Championships delivered one of the deepest and most entertaining championship meets in recent memory. From freshman phenoms announcing themselves on the biggest stage to seniors closing legendary careers with state titles, athletes across all six classifications produced memorable performances. While the championship spotlight often falls on the largest schools, TAPPS once again showed that elite talent can be found throughout every division, with record-level marks, dominant doubles, and breakthrough performances highlighting the weekend.

6A Boys: Clark, Boland, Sallee, and Jackson Lead the Way

The largest classification featured the deepest collection of talent in the state meet. Concordia Lutheran senior Carson Clark concluded his stellar career by sweeping the sprint titles, winning the 100-meter dash in 10.55 and returning to claim the 200-meter crown in 21.70. Clark also helped Concordia Lutheran capture the 4x100 relay title in 41.51, cementing himself as one of the meet's most valuable performers.

Distance fans witnessed an incredible showcase from San Antonio Antonian's John Boland. The junior dominated both distance races, winning the 1600 meters in 4:12.13 and returning to take the 3200 meters in 9:00.23. TMI Episcopal's Wells Peterson pushed Boland in both races, finishing second in each and helping create two of the meet's highest-quality distance contests.

Fort Worth Nolan Catholic senior Lyrix Sallee authored one of the weekend's most impressive doubles, winning the 400 meters in 48.43 before returning to claim the 800-meter title in 1:55.84. Nolan Catholic later closed the meet with a victory in the 4x400 relay.

Plano John Paul II standout Jett Jackson proved why many consider him one of TAPPS' premier all-around athletes. Jackson swept both hurdle titles, winning the 110 hurdles in 14.04 and the 300 hurdles in 37.27 before adding the long jump championship with a leap of 21-6.75.

6A Girls: Chayse Madison-Haire Continues Her Rise

No athlete commanded more attention than St. Dominic Savio sophomore Chayse Madison-Haire. For the second consecutive year, Haire swept the short sprint events, winning the 100 meters in 11.54 and the 200 meters in 24.27 against elite competition. Her victories were never in doubt and reinforced her growing status as one of Texas' top young sprinters regardless of classification.

The Savio success continued in the 400 meters where sophomore Mya Harris successfully defended her state title, running 55.05. Combined with Haire's sprint dominance, Savio showcased one of the strongest young sprint groups in Texas private school athletics.

In the distance events, Fort Worth Nolan Catholic junior Georgia Giesinger delivered a championship masterclass. She won the 1600 meters in 5:00.28 and followed with a 3200-meter victory in 10:49.48 while also placing runner-up in the 800 meters. Her versatility across three demanding events was among the meet's most impressive accomplishments.

Houston St. Agnes enjoyed perhaps the best overall team performance of any girls' program. Michaela Grimes won the 100 hurdles in 14.14, Marit Beckman (Dallas Ursuline Academy) proved to be the only girl able to splinter the St. Agnes duo of Grimes and Kaitlyn Elackatt as she captured the 300 hurdles in 42.59. The Tigers claimed victories in both the 4x200 and 4x400 relays. Kasi Ezike added a shot put title and discus medal, demonstrating St. Agnes' remarkable balance.

Freshman Mimi Adenle of Prestonwood Christian emerged as one of the meet's breakout stars. She finished runner-up to Haire in the 100 meters, fourth in the 200, and captured the long jump title with an impressive 18-2.5 leap.

5A Boys: Midland Christian's Complete Championship Performance

Midland Christian displayed exceptional balance throughout the championships. Senior Braden Belew swept the 800 and 1600 meter titles, winning in 1:55.45 and 4:28.07, respectively. The Mustangs also claimed victories in the 4x100 and 4x400 relays, showcasing their range from middle distance to sprint relays.

Fort Worth Christian enjoyed a tremendous weekend as Luke Stevens won the 200-meter title after finishing runner-up in the 100, while Maurian MiShaw captured the 400-meter championship in 48.91. In the field events, Rowdy Pearce led Midland Christian with a dominant 58-2.5 shot put victory.

Distance depth was on display throughout the classification. Fort Bend Christian's Elijah Savage won the 3200 meters, while sophomore Kollin Green of Fort Worth Christian finished runner-up and established himself as one of TAPPS' rising distance stars.

5A Girls: Sprint and Distance Excellence

Houston Second Baptist sophomore Sienna Walter continued her rise by sweeping the 100 and 200 meter titles in 11.73 and 24.36. Her performances made her one of the fastest female sprinters in TAPPS regardless of classification.

Tyler Grace Community's Emma Goetz authored one of the meet's strongest distance doubles, winning the 1600 meters in 5:00.92 and the 3200 meters in 11:04.08. Grapevine Faith Christian's Sophia Belcher added an 800-meter title and runner-up finish in the 1600 to complete an outstanding weekend.

Austin Regents also left its mark. Kate Powell swept both hurdle races, winning the 100 hurdles in 15.33 and the 300 hurdles in 43.65. Regents later claimed the 4x400 relay championship.

4A Boys: Freeman Leads a Loaded Classification

Rosehill Christian senior Graham Freeman was everywhere. Freeman captured the 400-meter title in 48.04, won the long jump with a 22-5 effort, tied for third in the pole vault, and contributed to strong relay performances. Few athletes matched his versatility.

Distance honors belonged to Vanguard College Preparatory's Luke Scarborough, who swept the 1600 and 3200 meter titles. Trinity Christian Willow Park's Owen Coates dominated the hurdle races, winning both the 110 and 300 hurdle championships.

The relay competition proved especially exciting, with Dallas Christian winning both the 4x100 and 4x200 relays while Holy Cross captured the 4x400 crown.

4A Girls: Balanced Excellence Across the Board

The girls' 4A division produced one of the most balanced meets in TAPPS. Schertz St. John Paul II's Rylee Higginbotham swept the sprint titles, winning the 100 and 200 meters in 11.79 and 24.47.

Arlington Pantego Christian's Elizabeth Hamblin completed a difficult 400-800 double, winning both events and demonstrating exceptional range.

Colleyville Covenant Christian's Harper Seghers emerged as the division's most versatile athlete, capturing the 100 hurdles, 300 hurdles, high jump, and triple jump. Her four-event championship haul was among the best individual performances in the entire meet.

3A Boys and Girls: Emerging Stars Everywhere

The boys' competition belonged to multi-event standouts Joshua DeRamus and Elijah Zuniga. DeRamus swept the 100, 200, and 400-meter titles for Conroe Covenant Christian, while Providence Classical's Zuniga captured both the 800 and 1600-meter championships.

On the girls' side, Covenant Classical senior Gwenyth Elizalde finished her TAPPS career with a distance triple, winning the 800, 1600, and 3200 meter races. Central Texas Christian's Addison Allerkamp and Avery Sindel powered one of the strongest all-around team performances in the division through victories in sprints, jumps, hurdles, and field events.

2A Boys and Girls: Distance and Team Dominance

Valor Prep senior Ethan Locke was nearly untouchable in the boys' distance races, sweeping the 800, 1600, and 3200 meter titles. Dallas First Baptist Academy dominated the relays and field events, helping establish itself as one of the strongest overall programs in the classification.

On the girls' side, Clara Gibson captured the 800 and 1600 titles while Alcuin's Keely Aguilar answered with a 3200-meter championship and runner-up finishes in the middle distances. Shiner St. Paul consistently scored across sprints, relays, jumps, and throws, making them one of the most complete teams in the meet.

1A Boys and Girls: Future Stars Emerge

The smallest classification delivered some of the biggest stories. Azle Christian's Grayson Smith won the boys' 100 meters, while Reagan Sparkman of The Oaks Christian Academy swept the 800 and 1600. Baytown Christian's Hank Hartleib completed a throws double in the shot put and discus.

On the girls' side, San Angelo Cornerstone Christian senior Hannah Bright ended her TAPPS career with a remarkable sprint sweep, winning the 100, 200, and 400 meters. Meanwhile, Houston Second Baptist freshman Brielle Bryant announced herself as one of the state's brightest young distance talents by winning the 800, 1600, and 3200-meter races.

From dominant veterans to rising freshmen, the 2026 TAPPS State Championships showcased the remarkable depth and talent that continues to define private-school track and field in Texas. With stars like Chayse Madison-Haire, Mimi Adenle, Georgia Giesinger, John Boland, and many others returning next season, the future of TAPPS track and field appears brighter than ever.
