Mid State athletes are setting the marks for the rest of Washington. This week\'s big story has got to be Nectaly Barbosa of Prosser.
After a blistering 1:50.98 800 this weekend at Pasco, he also holds the top in the 400 and the 1500. Watch out, this guy has set the bar for track this year.
Kyle Schauble of Kamiakin is also setting his marks across the board, he holds top times in the 110H, 300H, 200 and LJ. Kyle will be facing off Brandon Graef of Skyline this weekend at Bellevue. Both of these guys are burning their way to the top of the game in the 300H. It should be a race to watch!
Kayla McKeiren of Richland is also stepping up with top marks in 400,200 and LJ events for the girls.

OBU Has Dozen Qualifies at OU Meet

Oklahoma Baptist hit 12 national and five provisional qualifying marks in the John Jacobs Invitational hosted by the University of Oklahoma Saturday. Eight of the qualifying marks were new opportunities at the national meet. Kyli Bean qualified in the 400 meters, placing fourth in 55.2 seconds and Mai Fukada hit a qualifying mark in the triple jump at 37-5.

Freshman David Chirchir, from Eldoret, Kenya, picked up his third win of the season; with the two previous coming in the 3000 meter steeplechase. Chirchir, competing with the aggie track club, ran a time of 8:44 in the 3000 meter event and won by 15 seconds over second place in the John Jacobs Invitational, which is held on the University of Oklahoma

Lincoln, Nebraska- Despite inclement weather conditions on Saturday afternoon at the Nebraska Invitational, Oral Roberts University track and field athlete Shaun Smith put on an amazing performance in the 800 meter run, breaking an Ed Weir Outdoor Track record that has stood since 1979.Overall, twelve ORU athletes finished in the top three of their respective events.

Hosted by the University of Oklahoma, the Jacobs Invitational takes place on the OU campus at Jacobs Field, just east of Gaylord Family - Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. Field events begin at 11 a.m. with the women\'s javelin throw. Track events begin at 1 p.m. OU hosted the high school portion of the meet Friday. NORMAN, Okla. -- The University of Oklahoma hosts the 37th John Jacobs Invitational this week at Jacobs Field on the Norman campus. The high school meet begins Friday, April 14, and the collegiate meet concludes the event Saturday, April 15. The meet will be the lone stop outside of Texas for many of the Sooners as OU travels to TCU, Rice, UT-Arlington and Texas for the Midwest Regional in the upcoming weeks.

AUSTIN, Texas (April 5) - For the third straight meet, Cameron University cross country runner David Chirchir has turned in a spectacular performance. After winning the first two steeplechase events he entered as an Aggie last month, Chirchir added another notch to his belt on Wednesday as the top NCAA finisher in the 10,000-meter run at the prestigious Texas Relays held on the campus of the University of Texas.

Tulsa, Okla. - The University of Tulsa men\'s and women\'s track teams will begin the 2006 outdoor campaign by hosting the Tulsa Duels at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium on Saturday, March 25, 2006. The field events will begin at 10:00 a.m., with running events starting at 12:45 p.m. There is no charge for admission. Kansas, Missouri State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Oral Roberts, Wichita State and Tulsa will compete in the meet.

Jordan Powell placed seventh in the mile and Tara Collins placed ninth in the 5,000 meters at the NAIA National Indoor Track and Field Championships Saturday. Powell ran the mile in 4:16.31, just missing a sixth-place finish and All-America honors. Collins posted a time of 17:55.52 in the 5,000-meter run. Both events were won by freshmen, but Powell and Collins were the only other freshmen to place in the top 10 in each race.
