Weather postpones Class 5A/3A Region III track meets ALEX ALDACO Apr 28, 2013

After waiting five hours with inclement weather heading toward and finally appearing at Turner Stadium, officials postponed the Class 5A and 3A Region III track meets until Monday. Saturday's field events were completed during two morning sessions, but athletes were first called off the track during warmups prior to the 3 p.m. start of the running events. "Waiting it out - I had my issues with that because is that best with kids that have been logged up and tightened up?" said Humble ISD athletic director Troy Kite, the meet director. Regional champions were determined in 14 field events, which finished before the weather delay. The top two finishers advance to the state meet May 10-11, with the best third-place finisher from the four regions also moving on. (via Houston Chronicle)
