Texas Athletes To Watch For At Arkansas HS Inv.

DISTANCE EVENTS

London Culbreath competing in the 2 Mile at Texas A&M

This XC season, we saw Texas' top seniors battling some very talented freshmen for both state and national supremecy. This indoor season, the freshmen are coming out early to play. Last week, we saw McKinney North's London Culbreath start her high school track career off in a very strong way. She ran a 5:00 mile and a US #1 10:36.07 2 mile. Culbreath will go to Arkansas for Part II. Another freshman who came out blazing in XC was Aledo's Gracie Morris. Morris is slated to run both the 800m and 1 mile run in Arkansas.

On the boys side, Foot Locker Finalist Daniel Viegra of Pflugerville Hedrickson, will be looking to continue with his XC post season success on the track. Viegra is coming off his 1:58.47 split on last week's 4x800 relay. Look to see him drop a fast mile with the speed from that relay leg and his fitness from XC. Viegra's Hedrickson teammate Justin Botello took second place at A&M last week with a 4:21.56. Botello will look to top the Arkansas field to get a win. Arlington Martin senior, Cade Bethmann made his name known last year with huge improvement in the 800m. Bethmann placed third in the 800m at State, but also ran 4:15.19 outdoors, in the 1600m. Definitely, keep an eye on the Ole Miss signee when the milers hit the Arkansas track.

Lucas Lovejoy Runners durning XC season

Aledo's other Morris is Foot Locker Finalist Graydon Morris. Like his twin sister Gracie, Graydon hit the XC scene hard at the first meet of the XC season and he didn't slow down until after qualifying for the last meet of the season in the nation. Morris will take on the Arkasas field in both the Mile and the 3,000. Amarillo Tascosa distance star Briggs Wittlake is coming off a tenth place finish at the 6A State XC meet and an impressive run at the Foot Locker South Regional. Wittlake will mix it up with the 3,000 field at Arkansas. Lucas Lovejoy is coming off of a dominating XC season in 5A that culminated in a team state championship. They will have their senior Grant Tiff  and several other runners from the team state champions in the distance events.
