Girls Preseason All-State Cross Country 1st Team

Rank: #1

Name: London Culbreath

School: McKinney North

Graduation Year: 2020

Culbreath is the prohibitive favorite to be the top girl in the state of Texas once again. What hasn't this young lady done to deserve that distinction?

She knows she will get every girls best race week in and week out and she has yet to let down. I could rattle off all of the PRs and accomplishments that Culbreath has racked up in the last two years to let you know just how good she is. However, it'll be easier and probably more impactful by simply saying that she hasn't lost a race in the state of Texas since she put on the McKinney North uniform.

As a freshman, her race strategy was to run hard from the gun and go until the race finally ended. Last season, she had a different approach as she went out at a more controlled and at a conservative pace for the first mile, she would then let loose from there. We'll have to wait and see how she reinvents herself for this junior season. One thing to be sure of is that she'll be able to run just about any kind of race and be in contention to win.

On the national level, Culbreath has had some challenges in cross country. However, her post season in track was very productive. She ran fast and placed well against the best in the nation with her 4:43.41 - 1 mile at the adidas Boost Boston Games (2nd place), 10:03.29 3200m at the Brooks PR Invitational (6th place), and her outstanding 9:36.77 3,000m at the USATF Junior Outdoor Championships (2nd place).

Culbreath seems ready to take on anybody this cross season in and out of Texas and she is the number one runner in the 2018 Girls Preseason All-State team. When you see the white head band, just know that the race is about to get real!
