Quick Takes From NXN South!

The Story of The Unbeatens!

Two teams came in to NXN not having lost all year. The Woodlands on the guys side and Marcus on the girls. The Woodlands kept their winning streak alive, led again by senior Daniel Golden who placed 3rd after a hard fought battle against Reed Brown and Devyn Keith. The Woodlands snapped a four year Southlake Carroll NXN South win streak on Saturday, winning by almost 20 points. On the girls side Marcus had a bit of a different story. The ladies arguably had a much more competitive field of teams coming into the meet. While The Woodlands won State by more then 80 points the field in the 6A girls race at state was much closer (nine points between 1st and 2nd). Their streak was snapped by both Southlake who took the victory and Kingwood who placed second. It was an extremely close race with the top four positions only being separated by 20 points. There is a chance Marcus may be able to still get in based on one of the four at large bids. What helps their case is that they have beaten both Kingwood and Southlake through out the season. We will find out who gets the at large bids this coming Saturday (11/28) once all the regions have completed their meets.
