Happy Thanksgiving! Four Unforgettable Moments

At the NXN South Regional this past weekend, athletes competed in brutal conditions. It turned into a race less about who could run fast, but who could survive the conditions best. Being one of the top distance runners in Texas, Briggs Wittlake's bearded face is typically seen in the front pack of Texas races. At the end of a brutally long season, in conditions which made that final race even more agonizing, the easy thing to do would be to stagger outside of the finish area and collapse in the mud after his race. Instead, Briggs finished his race, stopped, turned around, and waited to congratulate every single competitor who crossed the line after him. He even stood all alone, in the cold mud and rain, for minutes, watching the clock tick up towards 30 minutes to make sure he had indeed seen the last athlete cross the line.
