Why: This race features two of the fastest three girls in the state. Whitney Williams comes in as the third-fastest freshman in the country and fastest overall in Texas with a time of 53.68. She pulled off a big win in class 5A last weekend by beating sophomore-sensation Bailey Lear with a lean at the line. Kuykendoll's 54.05 ranks third in the state, which she ran last week to win the class 6A state title. She took that race over 2015's defending champion, Aaliyah Miller. With Morgan Stewart (Texas No. 8) and a few other big names also in the mix, it's going to be a race to the finish.

Why: One of the matchups we've waited for all season is Jostyn Andrews vs. Keshun Reed. The two raced in late March, when Reed posted a come-from-behind win to beat Andrews by .07 seconds. Both have something to prove heading into this meet. Reed didn't run at state this year--he only contributed relay legs at regionals to try and help his team advance to the state meet (only the top two advance--in Texas, that's no easy feat). They ended up unsuccessful, which left the indoor 400m national champion on the outside of the state meet looking in. He's coming back for redemption, and will be look to make some noise. Andrews, on the other hand, did run at the state meet, where he finished second. Since he didn't get to race Reed at regionals or state, he will be hungry to face him once again. We also can't forget about Chancellor Stephenson who finished third in class 5A last weekend with a 47.31.
