1600m
Girls
Abby Gray taking home the win in the 5A girls 3200m
When: Races Start at 5:30 PM CT
Why: Julia Heymach seems like the favorite in this event after clinching the class 6A state title last weekend in Austin. Heymach will see some tough competition from Alamo Heights senior Abby Gray. She was the 5A state champion with her Texas No. 6 time of 4:54.66. Several other girls in the field have run close to the sub-five barrier, such as 3A state champion Jessica Rabius and Stafford's Lynette Amaram.
Boys
Jon Bishop was 2nd in class 5A
Who: Bryce Hoppel, Jon Bishop, William Hunsdale, Jake Merrell, Parker Scott, Derrick Torvik, Cade Bethmann
When: Races Start at 5:30 PM CT
Why: Many guys in this race have run under 4:20, so we should see some fast times. Hoppel, Bethmann, and Merrell will be back in action after running the 800m. All three of those guys will also have a shot at the win here, but they're going to see some serious competition from guys with fresh legs like Parker Scott, Jonathon Bishop, and William Hunsdale. Scott ran a 4:15.23 earlier this year to win the Texas Relays 1600m. Bishop has the second-fastest time in the field behind Hoppel with his 4:13.45. One guy who will be looking to prove something is The Woodlands' William Hinsdale. He holds a 1600m PR of 4:15.05, which he ran to win the Moonlight Mile two weekends ago.
