Girls 5A/6A Showdown
Natalie Goddard (Number 2212)
Teams - Belton, Round Rock, Austin Vandergrift
When: Friday. August 26th, 2016
Why: This girls field much like the guys holds some of the best runners in central Texas. Two runners to watch for are Austin Vandergrift's Natalie Goddard and Belton's Brooke Gilmore. Although they are in two different classes both on paper match similarly time wise. Gilmore is only a few seconds faster than Goddard in both the 1600m and the 3200m. At state last year in similar conditions Goddard ran a 19:54.30 while Gilmore ran 20:07.60. Goddard finished 14th in class 5A while Gilmore finished 44th in class 6A. In direct match up's Gilmore has beaten Goddard 5 out of 6 times, including this meet last year. Regardless we should see a good competition between them. One other runner who could be in the mix is Belton's Olivia Houlden. I'm sure Houlden is looking to kick off her senior season strong on her home course.
