Marcus I Meet Preview: The First BIG Meet of The Texas XC Season!

Girls Elite Race

Ashton Endsley taking the win at the 2015 Marcus I Invite
Who:
Teams: Marcus, Southlake, Keller, Flower Mound, Grapevine
When: Saturday, September 3rd
Why: Ashton Endsley is in a field of her own in this one. Last year she won the meet running 17:32.46. This year she's looking to repeat as the champion. Endsley has already run a solo 16:56.83 5K to win the Tall City Invitational. Endsley is a strong favorite, but you can't deny Keller junior Abbey Santoro. Last year she finished sixth at this meet but more impressively 3rd at state. Santoro will be looking to open her season in a big way this weekend with a top-five finish at Marcus I. Quinn Owen from Marcus will also look to show up big and prove the Marauders are still a powerhouse in the state. Even after losing three of their top runners last year Marcus is still the favorite to win the meet as a team. Going along with the team side of things we can't forget about the ladies from Southlake Carroll, and Keller who will be in the mix. Keller is one of the younger squads with only one senior in the top seven but they could place their top three or four all in the 20. This meet will have BIG implications on team standings and rankings as the first true team battle of the season.
