Several Texas girls traveled to Charlotte, NC for a chance to earn a bid to the Foot Locker Nationals meet in San Diego, CA. The Foot Locker South Region proves to be one of the toughest meets for Texas runners because of the weather, travel, terrain, and level of competition. The top runners from Virginia, Carolinas, Florida, Georgia, and several other states awaited the Texans.
For the Texas girls, several represented and ran well. Houston Lamar's Julia Heymach was the top finisher and qualified for Nationals. Heymach placed eighth, in 17:44 to earn her second straight trip to Foot Locker Nationals. Last season, Heymach placed fifth at the South Region meet in 17:19 and went on to place 36th at Nationals in 18:36. This season, she looks to end her High School Cross Country career with a bang.
Texas girls were also well represented by Freshman Gracie Morris of Aledo, Abby Riordan of Lewisville Hebron, Gillian Mortimer and Ali White of Southlake Carroll, and Freshman Camila Vicens of Houston Kinkaid who all placed in the top 60.
